A dedicated teacher with several years of faceted teaching experience. Specializing in CTS (esp. Construction and  Technology), and wanting to contribute my experience, skills, and teaching abilities to students of a unique educational team.

Professional Teaching Experience

Teacher - Ecole Intermediare Central Middle School 

Grades 6-8

August 2018 - Present

Teaching Woodworking, Computers (New Media, Graphic Design, and Coding), Rocketry, and Literacy. Woodworking classes included all levels of building from introductory to more advanced challenges. Computers courses introduces students to a wide variety of technology mediums, applications, and programs including the Adobe Suite and Coding. 

FACES Education - Livingstone Range School Division 

Grades 9, 10 Outdoor Summer School

Summer 2014 - Present

 

Work as a small group leader with 8-10 junior/senior high students. FACES education students spend 12 days in the summer living in the outdoors building self-awareness, a sense of community, and developing integrity. Students are able to achieve up to 15 high school credits toward their diploma by participating in high adventure activities, academics, and personal projects. Activities include: Flat-water and whitewater canoeing, rock climbing and repelling, and a 3 day overnight backpacking trip.

 
Teacher - H.A. Kostash School/Vilna School 

Grades 4-12

January 2016 - June 2018

 

Teaching grades 7-12 construction, 7-9 digital literacy/new media, and grade 4 P.E. at H.A. Kostash School and grades 6-12 construction, grade 4-5 digital literacy, and a K & E success class at Vilna School. Construction classes included all levels of building from introductory challenges to advanced carpentry. Digital literacy and new media introduces students to a wide variety of technology mediums, applications, and programs including the Adobe Suite. K & E success class helps prepare students for the transition out of high school.

Teaching Practicum III - Winston Churchill High School 

Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

August 2015 - December  2015

 

Taught grades 9, 10, 11, & 12 construction at Winston Churchill High School. Researched and created a CTF challenge in partnership with the Lethbridge Helen Schuler Nature Centre, as a professional inquiry project. Participated in sporting events, and participated in professional development sessions.

Teaching Practicum II - Gilbert Patterson Middle School 

Grades 6, 7, 8

Spring 2015

 

Taught grades six, seven, and eight construction and production arts CTF courses. Construction class focused on entry level student based woodworking projects and production arts was an introduction to Adobe Photoshop and Premier Pro. Also taught the mechanical systems unit in grade eight science. 

Teaching Practicum I - St. Patrick Fine Arts Elementary School

Worked in a grade four classroom closely with a teaching associate. During this practicum I taught a variety of lessons, but focused on teaching Science, French, Physical Education, and English Language Arts.

Worked bi-weekly in a grade 1/2 multi-age classroom. Primary duties included teaching assistance and observation. During this practicum I also taught grade 1/2 science.
